Psychological Therapy Services Coffs Harbour

Therapy

At Evolving Minds Psychology, we utilise a range of evidence-based psychological therapies. These therapies are supported by extensive research and have been found to be extremely effective for specific presentations like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF-CBT) Motivational Interviewing (MI) and  Schema therapy. Our main goal is to improve the functioning of our clients and equip them with skills that improve their quality of life.

Therapy for Children and Adolescents

Shagun is passionate about working with children and adolescents. Shagun is experienced in working with a wide range of presentations with children and adolescents and is able to assist with emotional difficulties, low self-esteem, behaviour problems, anxiety, depression, social skills and parenting strategies. Shagun is a provider of the Cool Kids program which is an evidenced-based program for the treatment of anxiety in children and adolescents.

The first appointment often focuses on collecting background information and exploring in detail parents’ concerns and their goal for therapy. It is therefore helpful for both parents to attend (where possible). Subsequent appointments will predominantly be with the child/adolescent and feedback will be provided to parents/carers at the conclusion of the session. Please note that in some cases, primary work might focus on parenting skills to equip parents to be more effective with their parenting strategies.
